What To Expect

We all feel it: coming to a new church for the first time can be intimidating and scary. To help put your mind at ease, we want you to know what you can expect when you come to Christian Bible Church for the first time.

When you walk through our front doors, you’ll be greeted by a member of our Greeting and Ushering Team, who will give you a bulletin and are there to answer any questions you may have about the church, services, facilities, etc. Thirsty? Grab a cup of coffee downstairs and feel free to take it anywhere in the church.

If you are coming for Sunday School (9:30am) there are two adult classes, and age-appropriate classes for your children. One of the adult classes meets upstairs in the Sanctuary. This class is co-led by two of our deacons, John Faber and Doug Bauer, and follows a lecture format. Our other adult class meets downstairs in our Fellowship Hall. This class is led by one of our bishops (elders), Bruce Ristow, and follows a discussion format. In both classes, feel free to participate at your comfort level- you will never be asked to speak or pray unless you offer to do so.

All of the children and youth Sunday School classes are downstairs, in rooms that are accessed through the Fellowship Hall. Someone downstairs will be happy to direct you to the appropriate classroom based on the age and grade of your child. Each class is taught by a member of our Sunday School team, under the supervision of our Sunday School Superintendent.

Sunday school lasts until approximately 10:20. At that time, feel free to pick up your children from their classroom and come upstairs to join in our morning worship service (10:30am).

Our service usually starts with a welcome, church announcements, and prayer requests by Abby Faber. After this we’ll either have a short video clip related to the service, or will go right into our time of worship through music. Our worship leader will come forward and direct the worship. Each of the hymns we sing can be found in the blue hymnals in each pew row or in the white hymnal available in the rear of the sanctuary, as well as being projected on the screen at the front of the Sanctuary.

Following the time of worship through music there is usually a special music selection intended to encourage each of us to prepare our hearts to hear the message our pastor will deliver. After the special music selection is performed all children in grades Pre-K through 5th grade are dismissed to children’s church downstairs with our Children’s Church leader.

At the conclusion of the special music selection our pastor will come forward and lead us in a congregational prayer and deliver a message that usually lasts between 25 and 30 minutes. Do you need to step out? As you exit the Sanctuary there is a unisex ADA compliant restroom to the left, and gender-appropriate restrooms to the right. A water fountain is also available in the foyer. Our nursery is located downstairs.

Our service concludes with an invitation by the pastor to respond to the message, and a closing hymn. We do not usually dismiss with a benediction, so once our closing hymn concludes the services are over. Your children will be brought upstairs by the Children’s Church Leader at this time.
